Students will work on collaborative projects that will be on temporary exhibition in the park. Close contact with working artists and art students in these two countries as well as a visit to the National Art Academy in Tallinn Estonia will provide a wide range of exposure to contemporary issues in visual art in Europe. Visits to major art museums, cultural sites will be arranged in each country. For those students who choose to extend their stay in Europe, Helsinki is the ideal city from which to visit St. Petersburg Russia and the Hermitage Museums and other world-class collections and historic sites

NYC to Helsinki the Denton Way

Thanks for following our blog. I well try to upload pictures sporadically, feel free to ask questions in the comments.

After Austin Shepparts Thesis Exhibition in Rocky Mount I drove to Richmond, spent the night, and then took the Apex Chinatown bus to NYC. Penn Station was by far the most confusing and stressful part of getting here. After buying the wrong train ticket, bumping into angry newyorkers with my big backpack, and being nervous about missing my international flight it seems like a nightmare compared to Helsinki where everyone speaks engligh and is super polite.

I knew I could finally relax from being more or less awake for two days when I saw Alex at the Stadium Hostel with a smile. Mike and Alex had arrived a bit earlier and after saying hellos, they fell asleep. Or we fell asleep.

Later Mike and I visited a grocery store and a McDonalds made up like a 1950s rocknroll diner. After eating a modest sandwhich dinner we made it out to see Helsinki at what must have been 6pm due to the level of the sun but in reality was 10pm local time!

The night was filled with the following: three bloody vampire teenagers going to some party, a shredded paper abonimable snowman hopefully going to same party, and generally really well dressed Finlandians enjoying the first warm weather theyve had all year. It was literally in the single digits a week ago.

Today we are going to stash our bags at the train station and see more of this awesome city. Cheers!
