Students will work on collaborative projects that will be on temporary exhibition in the park. Close contact with working artists and art students in these two countries as well as a visit to the National Art Academy in Tallinn Estonia will provide a wide range of exposure to contemporary issues in visual art in Europe. Visits to major art museums, cultural sites will be arranged in each country. For those students who choose to extend their stay in Europe, Helsinki is the ideal city from which to visit St. Petersburg Russia and the Hermitage Museums and other world-class collections and historic sites

Hello Everyone,
I am pleased to once again be taking students to Eastern Europe. Each trip is a unique experience and this one has already started off with new and somewhat difficult procedures for obtaining the necessary Russian Visas as well as minor frustration when trying to get multiple flight reservations for one-way flights in Europe. First time experiences are what this program is all about, so we are off to a good start! We will be leaving NC with temps in the 90's and arriving in Helsinki too temps probably not above 70! My dear friend Villu Jaanisoo called me several times today to finalize plans for meeting people as they arrive at various times on Sunday. Three students will already be in Helsinki; Andy Mike and Alex. Alex has done this trip before so she will orient the others to Finland's capital. I will be the next to arrive and will meet up with Villu to begin preparations for the Iron Casting Symposium. I will try to post again tomorrow during my NY layover. More later.
Carl
